The 2024 Worlds Championship has given us the pleasure of seeing the most advanced strategies being employed in real-time. While we are definitely not on the level to benefit from all these strategies, there are some takeaways we can apply to our gameplay. One such thing is the new lethality Kalista technology showcased by BLG’s ADC ELK. In this article, we are gonna do a complete overview, and see how we can apply it to our own games!
BLG ELK Kalista Lethality Build
Opportunity
The 3rd BLG vs T1 game has kicked off with the Opportunity purchase on Kalista. The general stats of this item are quite great for the early game, as we will get a 50 flat AD increase, 15 lethality, and 4% movement speed.
The general profile of the stats is quite nice, and the stat that stands out to me the most is the movement speed buff. Despite being minor, the buff still makes a high difference on Kalista, especially when piloted by a highly skilled player. The extra movement speed can make a huge difference in spacing, which converts to more favorable trades.
Opportunity is also great in the pro-play setting, as it will grant us temporary bonus lethality while upon entering combat. Calculated and slow pro pacing allows for the passive to activate, and gives players the opportunity to enter fights with greater strength.
Edge of Night
The second item Elk has employed is the Edge of Night. This item grants its user a periodic shield that is only broken by incoming abilities. The shield then dissipates while soaking all the damage from one specific ability. This item has a much higher utility in pro-play, since each step is much more calculated.
Serylda’s Grudge
The third item we have built is the Serylda’s Grudge. The item has huge armor penetration ratios, which have served Elk really well in melting down the T1 composition. The added benefit of this item is also its slow passive. The passive applies a slow to all our attacks towards enemies below 50%. This slow is pretty significant and beneficial regardless of your rank standing. It can very well be used against a bronze and T1 Faker.
Yoummu’s Ghostblade
Now the game has already wrapped up before the fourth item has been unveiled, but we can make some pretty fair estimations as to what item it could have been. As the title already revealed, it most likely would have been Yoummu’s Ghostblade. The item is great for further increasing the lethality reserves and getting a boost in movement speed.
As already mentioned, movement speed on ADCs is essential, and the more mechanically skilled players are able to extract more value from this stat. Therefore, it’s pretty fair to assume that this would have been Elk’s next pick. Anyhow, there is no need to worry when it comes to your games, as the item will serve you pretty well anyhow!
Bloodthirster
The last item could have been anything really, however, for all intents and purposes, Bloodthirster would be a safe buy. The has pretty great life steal ratios, which are essential for converting the pure damage from lethality to some extra HP.
Boots
The boots we have seen showcased in the game are Plated Steelcaps. They were good in the specific draft of the game. However, when it comes to your games, you can explore additional options such as Merc Treads and Berserker Greves.
