Brazil is the only team to have played in every single World Cup edition since 1930, and if they want that streak to continue, they need to pick up their form. Being fifth in the standings has rang the alarm for the five-time World Cup champion but Chile is a respectable team who will not go down easily.
Chile and Brazil meet on 11.10.2024, with both teams failing to meet the expectations. The match takes place at Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos on Thursday.

Chile – Brazil: Initial situation
Both Chile and Brazil are in a very difficult situation as the mid-point of the South American World Cup qualifiers approaches. It’s been a while since Brazil has been in the middle of the standings but they still have decent chance to reach the desirable destination, while that will probably not be the case for Chile.
Chile Stats & Form
Chile is in ninth place in the standings with 5 points and only one win in eight games. Scoring only four goals in eight games so far in the qualifiers is unacceptable for a team that wants to get back in the biggest football event. Chile is currently on a three-game losing streak in the qualifiers after failing at home to Bolivia and on the road in Brazil and Ecuador. It’s been exactly a year since their only win in the qualifiers 2-0 against Peru in the third round. Ever since they have only two wins in 11 games overall, and both of them came in friendly games against Paraguay and Albania. Chile has scored only one goal in the last five games including their Copa America appearance.
Brazil Stats & Form
We are used to seeing Brazil among the top teams in South America but this qualifying cycle will be way more difficult for the five-time World Cup champions. Currently, Brazil is in fifth place with only 10 points from eight games. Currently, Brazil is 8 points behind the leading Argentina and all they are focused on at the moment is just staying in the top six teams in the standings. Brazil has lost four of the last five games in the qualifiers, has lost three of four games on the road, and barely averages over one goal per game since they have a 9-8 goal differential. Bazil is coming off a 1-0 loss to Paraguay who scored only their second goal in the eighth round.
Chile – Brazil: Head to Head

Betting tip and prediction: Chile – Brazil (11.10.2024)
Brazil has not had significant success in a major tournament in the past decade, and what started as a temporary crisis, has turned into a decade of failures. No one can really imagine a World Cup without Brazil in it, and if the Cariocas do not pick up their game immediately, that nightmare will become a reality. It is way too early for such predictions since there are ten games more until the end of the qualifiers. Still, Neymar’s absence from the national team has taken its toll as Brazil obviously lacks leadership. Things are even worse in Chile who has one win in eight rounds and it will take a miracle to see them rise off the death. Given their current situation, Chile will have to go for all three points against Brazil to catch up with the rest of the group, and no matter how awful Brazil has been lately, that is easier said than done. Eduardo Vargas is the key man in Chile’s offense and just like the entire team, he is not in the best shape of his career. Brazil, on the other hand, has plenty of guys who can take over the game but at the same time, their offensive line is as weak as it’s ever been. Given all that, and the stakes of this game, there will not be much excitement in the penalty box, so we go with under 2.5 goals in total.
