Monaco – Lille: Initial situation
Monaco and Lille have an amazing start to the 2024-25 season. Monaco managed to beat Barcelona, and Lille won against Real Madrid in the Champions League, which proves their elite form. Now, it is time for a matchup that may give us the answer as to which team will challenge PSG for the title in France.
Monaco Stats & Form
It’s been a while since we have seen AC Monaco on top of the French Ligue 1. Unlike the other top teams in the league who have been decreasing their funds in recent years, Monaco is consistent and that has started to pay off. Monaco has six wins and one draw in seven games so far in the season and has a win over Monaco and a draw against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. The only team that escaped undefeated against Monaco in Ligue 1 this season was Lens in the third matchday. Monaco is coming off a 2-1 win over Rennes on the road with all three goals happening in the first half of the first 45 minutes. Strikers Breel Embolo and Eliesse Ben Seghir and defender Thilo Kehler have scored two goals each so far in the season.
Lille Stats & Form
Lille finished last season in the top four teams in the league and hopes to go even higher this season. They have a decent start of the year winning four of the seven games so far. The Mastiffs have been especially good on the road winning two of three games and allowing only one goal in that stretch. Still, the biggest win of the season came against Real Madrid in the Champions League after losing the opener to Sporting Lisbon. They are currently on a three-game winning streak and are going to Monte Carlo after a 2-1 win against Toulouse. Canadian Jonathan David is Lille’s best player with five goals so far in the season.
Monaco – Lille: Head to Head
Lille is the better team in the least ten head-to-head games winning 4 of those, while Monaco has 3 wins and 3 games needed in a draw. Last season, both teams won at home while keeping a clean sheet. The last three games between the two have ended under 2.5 goals in total.
Monaco – Lille: Odds
Monaco is a slight favorite going into this game with the odds at 2,00 while the odds for Lille’s win is at 3,65 and the draw at 3,80. The total goal line is set at 2.5 with 1,75 for over and 2,15 for under.

Betting tip and prediction: Monaco – Lille (18.10.2024)
It’s been all PSG in recent seasons in Ligue 1, and judging by the first couple of months of the new campaign, it seems like we are about to witness the most exciting season in the last decade. Monaco and Lille have been one step behind the rich team from the French capital, and things are slowly, but surely, changing. These two teams have grown internationally as well and, in the first two matchdays of the Champions League, have beaten the Spanish giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid. Monaco is on top of the league, winning all but one game, and Lille is keeping the pace. Austrian Adi Hutter took over Monaco last season in his first stint in France. The team kept its aggressive style of play and, and at the same time, has improved defensively, which makes them capable of not only winning the Ligue 1 but being competitive in the Champions League as well. Monaco has won 8 of the last 10 games in all competitions with two draws, and it is hard to believe that Lille is a real threat. On the other hand, Lille has allowed only one goal in three games on the road this season and managed to keep a clean sheet against Real Madrid. Unlike Monaco, Lille has a couple of injuries, with striker Hakon Arnar Haraldsson and midfielder Ethan Mbappe being among them. There is no doubt that Lille will focus on the defensive end trying to win a point in this game, and we believe they can do that. This will be a low-scoring game as there were only three goals in total in the last three games between the two. Monaco is definitely the favorite, but winning 7 out of 8 is simply too much for them. Therefore, we go with the draw at excellent odds of 3,80.
