These two teams faced each other in the group stage of the last two World Cups and those games brought a lot of controversy. Serbia ended up on the wrong side in both occasions and now has a chance for revenge when Switzerland comes to Leskovac.

Serbia – Switzerland: Initial situation
Switzerland is the reason why Serbia finished their last two World Cup appearances in the group stage and the Serbs cannot wait for a payback. That may be much tougher to be said than done, since plenty of players have refused to play for the national team as long as Dragan Stojkovic is the head coach. Despite that, Serbia believes that this may be the turning point for their team and hope for their third win of the year.
Serbia Stats & Form
Serbia had another disappointing tournament, finishing dead last in their group at the EURO. What made things even worse is the fact that they were the team with the least shots on target and many players were very frustrated while playing under head coach Stojkovic. Serbia’s captain Dusan Tadic announced that he will no longer play for the national team which started a domino effect. Now, the best players on the team such as strikers Dusan Vlahovic and Aleksandar Mitrovic are constantly finding reasons not to show up, and they will not be available for this game either. Even without them, Serbia had a solid start of the Nations League playing 0-0 against the European champion, Spain. In the second game, they lost 2-0 on the road against Denmark. Serbia has only two wins in the last ten games and both of those came in friendly games. They failed to score in four of their last five games overall.
Switzerland Stats & Form
It seems like Switzerland does not get the respect they deserve in the world of football. This small country has an excellent mix of experienced and young players who play very well together. They had an impressive performance in the 2024 EURO eliminating Italy in the round of 16 before losing to England after a penalty shootout in the quarterfinals. That was an excellent opportunity for this team to make the biggest result in their history and it seems like it took a huge toll on the squad. Switzerland has a poot start of the Nations League losing the first two games in the competition. First, they lost 2-0 on the road against Denmark and then were demolished by Spain by 4-1 at home. Switzerland’s seven of their last ten games have ended under 2.5 goals in regulation.
Serbia – Switzerland: Head to Head
These two teams have played twice before and both matches were a part of major tournaments. At the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Switzerland won 2-1 in the group stage. Serbia took an early lead after five minutes but the Swiss turned things around in the second half and won with a last-minute goal. At the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the two teams were in the same group again, and Switzerland won that one 3-2. They took a 1-0 lead, Serbia scored twice to take over control, but Switzerland was still able to turn the game around and win.

Betting tip and prediction: Serbia – Switzerland (12.10.2024)
If Serbian fans could choose one team to beat they will definitely pick Switzerland after all they have gone through in the last couple of tournaments. Given that, it was expected this game to be a hot ticket in Serbia but their football federation decided to host the game at a stadium that can barely sit 8,000 people. However, Serbia’s head coach Dragan Stojkovic has bigger problems than the attendance since he was forced to create a team without the top stars from the past years. unlike Serbia, Switzerland has plenty of experienced players who have been together for years. That definitely gives them a certain advantage going into this game. Still, Serbia has an excellent center-backs with Milan’s Strahinja Pavlovic and Nottingham Forest’s Nikola Milenkovic making a rock solid tandem. Neither team will start aggressively in this game and as time goes, they will both try not to lose the game. Therefore we do not expect many foals, if any, and we go with under 2.5 in total.
